What Our Apprentices Say:

"Just over 4 years ago I was sitting in a classroom at TAFE doing a Career Start Course in Electro technology with limited knowledge of electricity distribution, other than power comes from poles in the street, with no real career aspiration or pathway.

Now thanks to Zinfra giving me a chance I can say that I know a little more about power and a lot more about life.

The traineeship has taught me not just about work, but, also important life skills that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. It has taught me not only how to solve problems, but, how to prevent them by being proactive. I have learnt how to incorporate health and safety into everything I do, whether it’s at work, or at home, or on holiday or when helping others. It has taught me how to engage with people, clients and customers, and how to deliver the results they expect.

I owe my thanks to everyone from my Line Manager to upper management, right through to the field supervisors, estimators, designers and field crews with whom I spent several weeks on rotation.  All with 100s of years of cumulative experience who took the time, even when they didn’t have it, to explain things to me and help me understand."

Adam Reichelt

"Throughout my apprenticeship I have gained all the skills and knowledge that are required to complete any job for the company and to United Energy’s (the client) high standards. From fault work to construction, and preparation for future works, I have had full and in-depth experiences with all facets of the industry.

Glenn Simpson

“When I first started my apprenticeship I thought I knew a little bit about how the Electrical network worked. However, since working beside my leading hand who has a lot of industry knowledge as a fitter mechanic I now realize how little I knew and how much more I have to learn from him and all my other colleagues. Learning something new every day is something I'm just used to now.”

Levon Skipps

“I feel that in the last 2 years in particular my knowledge of the job has increased greatly. I now feel more confident in the work I'm doing and why I'm doing it - not only with the safety aspect but also from a quality perspective. I feel that we are always up to date with what's going on in our hub, and our management is always bringing up changes or alterations to industry standards and feel we do well to adhere in what can be a very challenging workplace here in QLD

 Philip Charles Hart

“I have absolutely loved my first year as an Apprentice with Zinfra. Picking up a whole set of new skills and knowledge. It started off slow, as expected, but the last few months especially I've been doing more and more hands on stuff every day, including major shutdowns, service upgrades, substation installs, pole changes etc.  Whilst at first it was just a watch and learn kind of experience, now I'm right in there doing anything I can to learn more as I head into my second year.”
