This year our annual Apprenticeship and Trainee Awards presentation took place at the Carlton Brewhouse in Melbourne on 5 May. Many thanks to ZNX Vic Project Manager, Brennan Drewett, who did an excellent job as MC on the night.

On 30 April, we held the 3rd Annual Apprentice and Trainee Awards presentation dinner in Melbourne at the Aquarium. The night recognises the outstanding achievements of our Apprentices and Trainees throughout the year. It was really great to hear the positive feedback on the nominations and have our Apprentices, Trainees, Senior Managers, colleagues and clients all come together to celebrate the achievements of this group.
Adam Beel, Work Practices Manager from UE / MG gave an inspiring speech on why our clients value this program and what it takes to be an outstanding Apprentice and Trainee. Darren Gorman, Zinfra Southern Contracting’s Distribution Overhead Manager also shared his story of his career path from starting on the tools as an Apprentice over 20 years ago to now managing a team of over 200 people and over $65M work of work.
And The Award winners are: Most Outstanding 1st Year Apprentice: Daniel Stoios (Zinfra Southern), Most Outstanding 2nd Year Apprentice: Jack McCann (Zinfra Southern), Most Outstanding 3rd Year Apprentice: Glenn Simpson (Zinfra Northern, Most Outstanding 4th Year Apprentice: Brennan Drewett (ZNX Vic).
The Safety First Award – a new category – was awarded to Brennan Drewett, Excellence in Mentoring went to Andrew Larkins (Zinfra Southern), the Overall Encouragement Award – also a new category – went to Tony Leeke (Zinfra Northern) and the Apprentice of the Year is Jack McCann.
Congratulations to all the winners and all those who were nominated for all their hard work, proactive attitude and putting safety first.
Our Apprentice program attracted over 1500 applications last year, for 18 advertised positions, so it’s a highly regarded program.
